Configuring yahoo mail is simple. You only need to follow the following steps.
1. Select the messaging option from the desktop screen of your 7710.
2. From the menu->Tools, select “New mailbox” option.
3. A dialog box will be displayed as “Mailbox set-up”. Press next button.
4. The following information will be asked in the next screen (“Mailbox setup : Mailbox details”):
- Mailbox Name: (You can give any name here, preferable is your name/yahoo etc).
- Mailbox Type: Select POP3.
5. In the next screen (“Mailbox setup : User details”), enter your detail:
- Name : Enter your name
- User Name: Give your yahoo user name (which you use in yahoo mail).
- Password : Give yahoo a/c password for above user name
- My email address: Type the full yahoo mail address
6. The next screen will ask about the following:
- Incoming server (POP3): you should enter pop.mail.yahoo.co.in or pop.mail.yahoo.com (check with yahoo, you can check it from your complete mail address also).
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.co.in (or smtp.mail.yahoo.com etc).
7. Now save the settings (or you can also define the advance email settings like retrieve headers only or full mail, email size limit, retrieve mail to inbox etc).
Then again from the menu->Email->Auto retrieve and send option, you will get a dialog box – “Auto retrieve and send e-mail”.
1. Select the mail box you have defined.
2. In the edit option, you can defined the start time, end time (by which only the mails will be retrieved), interval and days (on which days the mails will be retrieved). Its better to make the interval as one hour or half an hour (because your phone will automatically connect to internet and check for the mails by that interval; so if the duration is too small, the net connection charges will go up).
Please note that’s it’s more or less the same process as ahmetfx has explained in the topic GMail Settings with Screenshots (and it was explained beautifully). So you can view the pictures mentioned over there (I have mentioned about yahoo mail explicitly as there are some queries from some members).
But personally I have configured my yahoo mail as described above. For g mail I use the gmail client software to check mail (as I don’t use gmail very often). The client software of gmail is free and has a very nice interface (works perfectly with nokia 7710). In addition, you shall get a search mail option.
But its your choice
