You might have got angry when you read the title, but I don't mean to complain about Nokia 7710. I just want to give advices to those who are looking for a replacement for this phone.

1) Outdated Browser Capabilities
Nokia 7710 has a browser incapable of displaying complex websites, simply because lack of memory and old Flash player (Flash Player 6). The browser will probably run out of memory when you're browsing around, or it will freeze because of the exteremely complex content on the new-generation web pages.

2) Lack of Third Party Software
Now this can drive you crazy. Why? Think about it. You have a smartphone. You expect a smartphone to have infinite amount of software to choose from. All we have is a bunch of software which is already few years old, or some java games which don't even function properly. Nothing exciting, nothing new.

3) Insufficient Processor Power
Nokia 7710 takes almost a minute to hard boot (Which is done by taking out the battery), and several seconds to make any kind of process. Java games run slowly. Browser may freeze often. Most importantly, lack of CPU power makes watching high quality videos impossible (My videos were the best there are, in this thread). If you can't watch a video at DVD quality, what is a VGA display good for?

4) Poor Operating System
Nokia 7710 is a symbian phone. Sounds great? Nope, because it is a Series 90 phone. Series 90 is discontinued. Nobody updates it. It is slow, has bugs, and it often freezes or resends messages. Therefore no one need to do new programming for Nokia 7710. Series 60 phones, on the other hand, is continuously updated (Series 60 Version 5 is the cutting edge technology at the moment). There is no Series 90 Version 2. There is nothing. No hope.

5) Mobile Phones Are Getting Better
Nokia 7710 is a four-year-old device. It might have been cool to hang around with it, in 2004, but it's not the same now. Mobile phones now have Wi-Fi, 3G, a digital camera which shoot at few megapixels, social activity integrations (like Myspace, Google Maps, Facebook, Skype, Messenger) etc. Nokia 7710 was a great concept, but we have to know when to move on.
